Job description

We are looking for an experienced DevOps/SRE Engineer to join our team and take the lead in establishing consistent infrastructure practices across all our products. In this role, you will work closely with Principal Engineers and engineering leads to choose services and tools, architect and maintain robust, scalable infrastructure. This role will be key in defining organizational infrastructure standards and processes, including network architecture, access management, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Over time, you will evolve the DevOps team from a hands-on, service-oriented team to an enablement team, empowering individual product teams to self-service their infrastructure needs.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical expert on organization-wide infrastructure decisions and initiatives.

  • Collaborate with Principal and Lead Engineers to define and implement company-wide infrastructure architecture.

  • Lead organization-level strategic infrastructure projects and supervise the work of other members of a cross-functional team.

  • Develop long-term strategies to evolve from a centralized SRE model to an enablement model, equipping teams with tools, processes, and guidelines for self-service infrastructure.

  • Define architecture for scalable infrastructure using AWS, Terraform, and modern cloud technologies.

  • Enforce organizational policies for access management, RBAC, and security best practices.

  • Define and optimize network architectures (public/private VPCs, DNS, load balancing, routing) across multiple environments.

  • Establish and maintain best practices for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation to ensure consistency across all products.

  • Lead and prioritize DevOps team initiatives, serving as the key decision-maker for infrastructure projects.

  • Mentor and support teams in setting up and managing their infrastructure.

  • Play an active role in hiring, training, and mentoring new DevOps engineers.

  • Oversee operational aspects of infrastructure, including incident response, monitoring, and continuous improvements to reliability and performance.

Job requirements

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across product teams, developers, and leadership.
  • Proven track record of driving and implementing process improvements.

  • Pragmatic mindset - experience in delivering incremental improvements while balancing what's urgent with what's right.

  • Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, VPC, RDS, IAM, Route53, etc.) and infrastructure automation using Terraform.

  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring and guiding DevOps or SRE engineers.

  • Solid understanding of DevOps and DevSecOps practices, experience in designing, implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

  • Expertise in managing cloud networking (VPC, subnets, load balancers, routing) and access control (IAM, RBAC, key management).

  • Proven ability to architect and implement scalable infrastructure across multiple teams/products.

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Strong experience in infrastructure monitoring and observability using tools such as the ELK stack, Grafana, and similar solutions.

  • Skilled at developing infrastructure processes that promote self-service, reducing dependency on central platform teams for routine changes.
