Job description

Join us as a Staff Engineer and become a key technical leader in shaping our end-to-end platform for the design and development of utility-scale solar projects. This is a high-impact role for a leader who thrives on solving complex, ambiguous problems at scale. Apply your expertise to our most significant technical challenges, directly enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of solar project development worldwide. If you are a systems thinker passionate about sustainable technology and want to collaborate with a talented international team on projects with a tangible, real-world impact, we invite you to join our mission.

As our Staff Engineer in our Platform department, you will be a technical steward of our product ecosystem. This high-leverage, hands-on leadership role will influence our architectural blueprints and our most critical code. You will:

  • Lead and evolve the technical architecture for the PVcase platform, spanning frontend, backend, data, and APIs.

  • Tackle complex, cross-cutting technical challenges and guide teams through ambiguous problem spaces.

  • Amplify technical excellence through mentoring, by championing best practices and leading by example.

  • Partner with product and engineering leaders to align our technical roadmap with business strategy and identify and mitigate technical risks in new initiatives.

Job requirements

We are looking for a leader who embodies the principles of a modern Staff-level engineer. You are tech-agnostic, more committed to solving the problem correctly than to a specific framework. You lead through influence, not authority, and your communication is clear, concise, and compelling to engineers and executives alike.

  • You balance long-term architectural vision with practical, incremental progress to deliver results.

  • You apply systems thinking to reduce complexity, identify leverage points, and build solutions that benefit the entire organization.

  • You actively mentor other engineers, sharing your knowledge to help them grow and fostering a culture of learning.

  • You have proven experience leading technical initiatives that span frontend, backend and test automation/QA across multiple teams.

  • You foster an inclusive environment where the best ideas can emerge, valuing collaboration and constructive feedback over ego.

Core qualifications:

  • A proven track record in software engineering, with significant experience leading the design, architecture, and delivery of complex, scalable, and resilient software systems.

  • Expert-level knowledge of system design, distributed systems, and architectural patterns (e.g., microservices, messaging architectures, service-oriented architecture).

  • Hands-on experience with a major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and Infrastructure as Code.

  • Architectural fluency across the full stack, with the ability to make and defend critical decisions on both backend (e.g., service architectures, data modeling, API strategy) and frontend (e.g., modern component frameworks, state management) systems.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical ideas to diverse audiences with clarity and conviction.
